Project PI to give a talk on Thornton to Edinburgh's Open History Society

Cordelia Beattie (PI) will give a talk, 'Alice Thornton (1626-1707) and her Rediscovered Manuscripts', to the Open History Society at 19:30 on Friday November 17th 2023 at the Royal Scots Club, 29-31 Abercromby Place, Edinburgh.

  • How Cordelia Beattie located two missing Thornton manuscripts

  • What Alice Thornton wrote about, and what her life in England and Ireland was like during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms.

  • What motivated Alice Thornton to write, and what her accounts tell us about 17th-century gentry life.
