The Index search finds entries such as people, places and events. The Text search finds words and phrases in the Books and shows the results as snippets with the word/phrase highlighted. Watch a short tutorial on the search page; there is also a version of the tutorial with subtitles.
All index entries are shown as initial default. Use the filters to narrow down the entries. Click the Expand/Collapse button to show/hide details of all entries; use black arrow to show/hide details of individual entry.
